When managing a virtual data room (VDR), precision and security are paramount. That’s why our VDR offers two distinct views—Construction View and Published View—designed to give deal managers complete control over document management and provides a fail safe to minimise the risk of human error.
Construction view: a preparation space to ensure your VDR is on the right track
With Construction View, deal managers can set up, organise, and refine the VDR before making documents available to external parties. This pre-publication environment acts as a safety net, allowing teams to:
- Prepare and structure with confidence: Arrange folders and upload documents without exposing them prematurely.
- Redact information securely: Apply redactions to sensitive documents before they are made visible. View what has been redacted through the the “transparent” redaction before they are published.
- Collaborate with control: Work internally to ensure accuracy and completeness before anything is accessible to bidder groups .
- Safely conduct any vendor or pre-release due diligence.
Published view: A streamlined, secure release mechanism to ensure documents end up in the right hands

Once documents are finalised, the deal manager can choose when and what to publish. This extra layer of control helps ensure that the right documents are made visible to the right people, at the right time. Key benefits include:
- Minimised human error: By staging documents in Construction View first, teams can reduce accidental disclosures.
- Additional security for sensitive information: Once documents are redacted and published, a new version of the redacted document will be made visible in the Published view, ensuring that the sensitive information is removed in the bidder’s version, whilst still allowing you and other deal managers control and access to the original document in Construction view.
- Quality control options: The same user can oversee publishing, or a second reviewer can step in for an additional level of verification.
- Flexible timing: Documents can be published when the timing is right, ensuring stakeholders receive only the most relevant and up-to-date materials.
- Ongoing adjustments: Maintain flexibility by releasing specific documents or folders at different times and make updates or changes later without publishing everything at once. For example, if you want to release the redacted information to bidders at a later stage, simply remove the redactions in the construction view, re-publish, and bidders will now see the new unredacted version of the document.
Construction View allows teams to prepare and refine documents before they are securely sent down the correct track through Published View. This methodical approach prevents errors, enhances security, and ensures smooth information flow. With our VDR’s Construction and Published Views, you gain peace of mind knowing that your deal documents are managed securely, efficiently, and without risk of premature or incorrect disclosure.
